During the off-season, Athletic Bilbao not only kept their Euro 2024 champions but also got stronger. However, the new players might not make a big impact in the first La Liga match against Getafe, as they need to get fit and get used to their teammates.
In this off-season, Athletic bought winger Álvaro Djaló for 15 million euros. He scored in friendlies against Osasuna (2:1) and SD Eibar, but then got injured and missed the match against Stuttgart (0:4). The manager Ernesto Valverde will likely rely on Iñaki Williams, because Nico Williams just got back from the rest, so he isn’t expected to play his best.
Getafe’s best striker Borja Mayoral is still recovering from a knee injury. He was one of the top forwards in La Liga last season. The team will still focus on defensive style
